When to go

From May to October, roads and trails are accessible. Summer is the ideal time, but storms can be sudden. Winter is snowy, and several mountain roads are closed.

Getting around

A car is the simplest way, as distances are long and public transport rare. Mountain roads are slower. Check their condition in winter.

Our tips

  • Pack warm clothes, even in summer.
  • Start early for mountain hikes.
  • Taste Cantal cheese and local produce.
  • Respect livestock and close gates behind you.
