Cascade du Sartre
The Sartre waterfall, in the Cheylade valley, is one of the many natural curiosities of the glacial valley of the Petite Rhue, in the heart of the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park, in the Cantal. About thirty metres high, it crosses in a spectacular leap a basalt lava flow with prismatic organ pipes, rich in pyroxene and olivine crystals. An interpretive trail laid out around the site lets you discover this geological heritage and the local flora, about 200 metres from Lac des Cascades, which offers a fine panorama over the Cantal mountains.
