La Cascade et Moulin de Chambeuil
The Chambeuil mill is a small watermill in the commune of Laveissière, in the Cantal, in Haute-Auvergne. It stands at the top of the village of Chambeuil, on the right bank of the stream of the same name, and was restored after being abandoned in the early twentieth century.
The mill works by a simple mechanism: water, brought by a diversion channel, turns a wheel that drives the millstones. It was used mainly to grind rye.
The Chambeuil stream is known for its many waterfalls. The mill can be visited freely, without a guide, and a path of about thirty minutes starts from the mill's parking area, follows the torrent and its falls, then returns to the starting point.
