Les Cascades de l'Alagnon
The Alagnon rises at Font-d'Alagnon at about 1,450 metres' altitude. It comes from the meeting of two little streams, Combe-Nègre and Couelle. Fast at the start, it sinks into gorges, then spreads out in the valley towards Murat. After the defile of the Alagnon chapel, the valley narrows again towards Neussargues. The Alagnon gorges begin at the Vernet bridge and end at Lempdes. The Alagnon joins the Allier at the Saut du Loup. The Alagnon valley abounds in waterfalls between the Lioran resort and Murat.
