When to go

Spring, summer and autumn all suit well. Summer is the best season for rivers and gorges. Winter is cold and snowy at altitude.

Getting around

A car lets you link the scattered sites. Besançon is explored on foot. Some mountain roads may be snowy in winter.

Our tips

  • Pack warm clothes, even in summer, on the plateaux.
  • Check the state of the trails after heavy rain.
  • Taste Comté and Morteau sausages.
  • Respect nature around waterfalls and caves.
