Séguret
Séguret is a village in Vaucluse at the western end of the Dentelles de Montmirail range, at the foot of the reliefs overlooking the Rhône valley. It is labelled among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France" and had 769 inhabitants in 2023.
Traces of Roman occupation are attested there, including remains of a statue of Jupiter. A text of 611 mentions vines belonging to a neighbouring monastery, considered the oldest written trace of a vineyard attached to an appellation in the region. A cooperative cellar was founded in 1960, and the wines, classed Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages, received official recognition in 1966.
The village is explored by its narrow, cobbled lanes lined with stone houses. You can see an old church, fountains, and the ruins of a feudal castle overlooking the whole. From the heights, the view extends over the plain.
