Ménerbes
It was in the Middle Ages that Ménerbes acquired part of its heritage, such as Saint-Hilaire abbey, a former priory where Saint Louis stopped on his return from the Crusades.
The twelfth-century church keeps its rich decoration. The nearby old cemetery offers a superb panoramic view. The visit of the village continues with the old hospice and, on the Place de l'Horloge, the belfry and its campanile. Ménerbes has many historic buildings: the citadel, the Carmejane where Empire general Robert lived, the old presbytery, home of Count Rantzau, the castelet inhabited by Nicolas de Staël and Picasso's house.
