Saut des Cuves
The Saut des Cuves is a waterfall of the Vologne, on the boundary of the communes of Gérardmer and Xonrupt-Longemer, in the Vosges. The fall remains modest, a few metres, but the river carves the rock there as it swirls, forming vat-shaped cavities that gave the place its name.
A path has been laid out along the Vologne to let you admire the Saut des Cuves and several other more modest falls. The start is generally from the Xonrupt-Longemer car park, and a bus stop named "Saut des Cuves" serves the site from Gérardmer.
The site is part of the "Perles de la Vologne" circuits, which offer loops of a few kilometres up to about ten kilometres. The water is very cold and the rocks slippery: caution is needed, especially with children.
