Plage des Grands Sables (Groix)
Grands Sables beach, on the island of Groix off Lorient, is known as one of the rare examples of a convex beach in Europe: its sand forms a curve that advances towards the sea and moves from one end to the other with the seasons and storms. Its white sand and clear water give it the air of a tropical beach.
It lies on the east coast of the island, facing the mainland, and is reached on foot or by bicycle from the port of Port-Tudy. Swimming is pleasant in summer, with water milder than elsewhere in Brittany. The island also offers fine walks on the wild coast and protected natural sites.
