Ecomusée de l'île de Groix

Morbihan, Bretagne

The eco-museum of the Île de Groix, in the Morbihan, opened in 1984 and traces, following eco-museum principles, the history of the island and its inhabitants. It is housed in a former cannery overlooking Port Tudy. Sylvie San Quirce has been its curator since 1989.

Among the most notable exhibits are a 1950 lifeboat and a scale reproduction of the hull of a tuna-fishing boat. The museum runs workshops for children and adults, as well as sea trips aboard a traditional sailing fishing boat.
