Plage de Roccapina

Corse-du-Sud, Corse

Roccapina beach is a large bay of pale sand in Corse-du-Sud, between Sartène and Bonifacio. It is mainly famous for its Lion rock, a granite formation that evokes a lying lion and overlooks the bay, and for its Genoese tower, perched on the ridge. The sea takes on turquoise tints, and the maquis comes down to the dunes.

The beach is reached on foot from the road, by a short path, and is suited to swimming, strolling and photography. There are few facilities: bring water, shade and something to take your rubbish away. The late-afternoon light is particularly beautiful.
