Anse de Rondinara

Corse-du-Sud, Corse

The bay of Rondinara, in Corse-du-Sud, lies halfway between Bonifacio and Porto-Vecchio. It forms an almost closed shell-shaped cove, protected by two peninsulas whose tips almost meet, which shelters it from winds and currents. The site is part of the Bouches de Bonifacio nature reserve.

The beach forms an arc of pale sand bordered by turquoise water, calm and shallow. Around it, the maquis, rocks and a few pines make a wild and preserved setting, with very few houses, mostly around the hamlet of Suartone. It is reached by a small winding road leaving the main road. The bay also serves as an anchorage for boats, and, out of season, cows sometimes wander on the sand.
