Plage de Santa Giulia à Porto-Vecchio
South of Porto-Vecchio, between the Punta di i Scogli Rossi to the north and the Ghiuncajola point to the south, the gulf of Santa Giulia shelters one of the most photographed beaches in Corsica: a lagoon of turquoise, transparent water, shallow for several tens of metres, bordered by very fine white sand.
The beach occupies a pine-planted lido that separates the sea from an inland pond, the Santa Giulia pond, fed by the Lezza, Alzellu and Vignarellu streams. This lagoon configuration, rare in Corsica, explains the softness and clarity of its waters, appreciated for family swimming as well as water sports.
The north of the bay has seen major tourist development — marina, hotels and residences — while the coast south of the gulf remains wild and preserved, part of the Natura 2000 site of the Bouches de Bonifacio.
Santa Giulia is regularly cited among the most beautiful beaches on the island, alongside nearby Palombaggia.
