Les Aiguilles de Bavella
The Bavella needles (or "Towers of Asinao") are north-west of Porto-Vecchio, between Zonza and Solenzara in the Bavella massif.
The needles are a set of rocky walls and jagged peaks, a place of hostile beauty, exposed to the wind and offering a marvellous view.
They peak at 1,899 m with an unrivalled view of the sea and the chance to see the island of Montecristo in fine weather.
The Col de Bavella (1,243 m) is considered the most beautiful in Corsica for the breadth and richness of its panorama. The Bavella massif consists of a laricio pine forest on the heights, maritime pines and oaks lower down, to which cedars and chestnuts have been added since the sixties through the reforestation that followed successive fires.
