Les vasques de la Solenzara
The pools of the Solenzara are natural basins carved into the rock by the Solenzara river, in the Bavella massif, in the Corse-du-Sud. The water is clear and transparent green, and there are many swimming spots along the valley.
From the village of Solenzara, the D268 towards Bavella follows the river, giving easy access to several pools. A short path leads between the rocks from the bridge, while other pools, such as those of La Vacca or Purcaraccia, require a longer walk: about forty minutes for Purcaraccia, on a sometimes steep and slippery path.
The best-known pools are very busy in July and August; walking a little further leads to quieter ones. A recent report mentions a summer swimming ban at one of the sites, so it is best to check with the town hall.
