Monte Renoso

Corse-du-Sud, Corse

Monte Renoso, Monti Rinosu in Corsican, rises to 2,352 metres between the Vizzavona and Verde passes, in the communes of Bastelica, Bocognano and Ghisoni, in the Corse-du-Sud. Its massif is the third highest on the island, after those of Monte Cinto and Monte Rotondo. Its name, which evokes snow, recalls that the summit often stays snow-covered late into the season.

The massif is surrounded by several high lakes, including the lakes of Bastani and Nielluccio, and offers wide views over the Corsican mountains and the sea. It is reached by fine hikes, easier than those to other great summits on the island but still requiring equipment, water and settled weather.
