Pozzines du Lac de Nino

Corse-du-Sud, Corse

Lac de Nino is a lake of glacial origin at 1,743 metres' altitude, on the Camputile plateau, in Haute-Corse. At about 6.5 hectares, it is the second largest lake on the island. It is the source of the Tavignano, the second river of Corsica by length and flow, and it is crossed by the GR 20.

The pozzines around it are peaty wetlands, riddled with water holes, that form in the hollows left by ancient glacial lakes. Horses and cows graze there freely in summer. Camping is forbidden. It is reached by two paths that start from the Col de Vergio resort, on the D84 road, for a hike of about fifteen kilometres round trip and nearly 700 metres of climb.
