Arche du Capo Tafonato
Capu Tafunatu, meaning 'pierced head', in the Corse-du-Sud, takes its name from the spectacular opening at the top of a rock ridge in the heart of Corsica's Cinto massif. With its imposing size, about 55 metres wide and 16 metres high, it is said to be the largest natural arch in France.
Access is for experienced hikers only, usually from the Ciottulu a i Mori refuge, across unstable scree and some easy but exposed scrambling. The best period to see it is from June to September, once the snow has melted.
