Grotte de Clamouse

Hérault, Occitanie

CLAMOUSE, a site classified by the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development, is an essential tourist spot, 35 km from Montpellier, in the GRAND SITE de FRANCE of the Hérault Gorges, near the Pont du Diable and the medieval village of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert.

At Clamouse, you will discover the greatest diversity of crystals in France (calcite and aragonite crystals, a profusion of eccentrics, organ pipe formations). This diversity has earned it international renown.

The visit of Clamouse amazes visitors with the exceptional fineness of the aragonite and calcite crystals, but also with the immensity of the great halls where majestic organ-pipe formations and sparkling petrified waterfalls drip: magical!

During the visit, passionate guides will explain the scientific interest of the stalactites, true memories of time that record year after year the climates that have succeeded one another for over a million years.
