La Foux de la Vis is a karst resurgence that gushes at the bottom of the Vis gorges, on the border of the Gard and the Hérault, between the Causses de Blandas and Larzac. This underground water, from the network that drains the surrounding limestone plateaus, comes out with force at the foot of the cliff and immediately feeds the Vis river. An old, disused stone mill is backed against the rock directly above the pool, forming with the waterfall a picturesque, much-photographed site. The site is part of the vast karst ensemble of the Causses and Cévennes, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
