Cascade de la Vis

Gard, Occitanie

The Vis waterfall, officially the Cascade de la Meuse, is at Saint-Laurent-le-Minier, in the Gard, on the Vis river, a few kilometres from the Cirque de Navacelles. It is artificial, formed at a weir that diverted part of the water into an aqueduct supplying the 17th-century château of Saint-Laurent-le-Minier, also called the Château Junié.

The curtain of water spans the width of the river and creates a pool below that is very popular for swimming in summer. The site is busy, especially in season, and is reached on foot from a paying car park a few hundred metres away. Several hiking and mountain-bike routes pass the waterfall.
