Réserve des Bisons d'Europe
Found in the wild only in Poland, the European bison has been reintroduced in the Margeride, at Sainte-Eulalie in the Lozère, where it lives in semi-freedom on more than 170 hectares. Visits are mainly by horse-drawn carriage or, in winter, by sledge. The trip of about fifty minutes reveals the bison in their natural habitat, and a museum area tells the story of this survivor from prehistoric times.
The reserve was created to complement the European bison rescue plan carried out in Poland, in the Białowieża forest, since the 1920s.
