Château de la Baume
Located in the Massif Central at 1,200 metres, in the Lozère, the Château de La Baume is a private property listed as a historic monument.
It has kept much of its original décor, enriched by the families who succeeded one another there. The visit reveals an ensemble in which the rustic early 17th-century style of the Gévaudan sits alongside the more refined 18th-century style, influenced by artists from Italy and by the work of the Versailles workshops.
Behind its austere granite walls, the château holds an interior richly decorated with furniture, panelling, tapestries and paintings, earning it the nickname 'the little Versailles of the Gévaudan'.
