Musée de l'automobile de Valençay
The Valençay automobile museum, in the Indre, is on avenue de la Résistance, near the Talleyrand château. It was born of the collection of the Guignard family, which has run garages since 1906 and kept the cars that passed through its hands, before adding to them over the years.
About sixty old vehicles in working order, from 1898 to today, are on show and maintained by a group of enthusiasts, and the route covers about eighty years of French car manufacture. The collection also includes period posters, garage signs, spare parts, old bicycles, collector motorbikes and fire engines.
A space is devoted to rallying, with archive documents, photographs, films and a few vehicles, including the one that took part in the 1996 Paris-Dakar with Pierre Lartigue. A 25-seat video room is available. Each year, a temporary exhibition presents new models, and motorbikes are the subject of occasional exhibitions.
