Lac de Lispach et Tourbieres

Vosges, Grand Est

Lac de Lispach is a lake peat bog in the High Vosges, in the commune of La Bresse, at about 900 metres' altitude. Nearly half of its surface is occupied by a floating peat raft, and the water body is held by a small dam built in the twentieth century to supply the textile industry. With the neighbouring Ténine peat bog, the site has been listed since 1995 in the inventory of Sensitive Natural Areas of the Vosges.

A laid-out and marked path goes round it, with educational panels on the formation and life of peat bogs. You must stay on the path, as the ground is marshy. On the edge you can observe characteristic plants, such as sundew, a protected carnivorous plant.

A car park is near the start of the path. Swimming is forbidden and fishing is regulated. The site can be done on snowshoes in winter.
