La Cave des Roches Le Champignon

Loir-et-Cher, Centre-Val de Loire

The mushroom cave: 50 metres underground, discovery of the only cave in the world that entirely grows, in their natural atmosphere, the various gourmet mushrooms such as the blue-foot, shiitake, oyster mushroom, etc. More than 100 tonnes of mushrooms are produced each year and entirely hand-picked, delighting among others many starred restaurants around the world.

The tuffeau quarry and the underground town: a spectacular visit to the heart of the earth... enter a tuffeau quarry where the story will be told of the quarrymen and the ancestral method of extracting this stone, with which the kings of France built their castles. Then discover at the deepest part of a gallery the Underground Town: more than 1,000 m² of sculpted façades cut as a testimony of architecture for future generations.
