Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire
The château de Chaumont-sur-Loire is in the Loir-et-Cher, on the banks of the Loire, between Amboise and Blois. It overlooks the Loire valley classified as UNESCO World Heritage, and illustrates both the defensive architecture of the Gothic period and the pleasure architecture of the Renaissance. In the tenth century, Odo I, count of Blois, set up a fortress there to protect Blois from the attacks of Fulk Nerra.
Since 1992, it has hosted each year, in its gardens, the International Garden Festival, and since 2008, it has invited visual artists and photographers to exhibit there. It is listed as a historic monument. The visit combines heritage, gardens and contemporary art.
