Hêtre Buffaut-Chêne Mollevau
The Allogny state forest: Formerly belonging to the viscount of Bourges, this Sologne forest of 2,347 hectares was acquired by Philip I at the same time as the town. It invites cycle touring, hunting and walking, not only for the splendour of its paths running under beautiful trees, including a stand of century-old oaks, but also because its relatively flat terrain encourages those without sporting training!
The state forest is 90% magnificent oaks (Chêne Mollevaux, Gros Chêne) mixed with beeches, chestnuts and pines making up the remaining 10%. The fauna, mainly deer, roe deer, wild boar and small animals (hares, foxes, diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey), enlivens the forest.
