Palais Jacques-Cœur

Owned by the State and run by the Centre des monuments nationaux, the Palais Jacques-Cœur in Bourges, in the Cher, is visited with a guide. The tour gives a faithful picture of the interior layout of a great 15th-century town house, which shows a strong concern for comfort and hygiene.

In the heart of Bourges's well-preserved historic quarter, the palace stands near the city's other great monument, Saint-Étienne Cathedral.
