Château de Blosset
The Château de Blosset stands in Vignoux-sur-Barangeon, in the Cher, on the edge of the Sologne. The site is recorded in the 14th century, with a seigneury of Bourdeille attested in 1398 and a fortified house guarding a river crossing on the road from Bourges to Paris. In the 16th century the estate belonged to the Fumé family, then passed in 1631 to the Fradet de Saint-Aout family.
From 1771, the medieval castle, restored in the 16th century, was transformed into a modern residence for Paul de Blosset, knight of the Order of Saint Louis and ambassador of Louis XV. This 18th-century rebuilding makes it one of the few châteaux of that period in the Sologne. The surviving period plans contributed to its listing as a historic monument in 1995.
The house, private and lived in, opens to the public during the European Heritage Days and by appointment.
