Gassin

Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Built on the top of a hill more than two hundred metres high, Gassin is a delightful village that has kept all its charm and tranquillity, a few kilometres from the Var coast. It once had a lookout role because, from its dominant and fortified position, it watched the whole coast and could raise the alarm in case of Barbary pirate invasion.

Today, you can visit the village by climbing the lanes to the delightful Place des Barrys: there, a grandiose landscape stretches out: cork oak forests on hills as far as the eye can see, the vineyards, and in the background the azure blue of the Mediterranean.
