Bormes-les-Mimosas
Bormes-les-Mimosas is a perched village of the Var, between the Maures massif and the Mediterranean, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Its steep lanes, coloured houses with pastel shutters, flowered little squares and old castle offer fine views over the Golden Isles and the Hyères roadstead. The village is flowered all year round, and famous for its mimosas that turn yellow in winter.
The commune also houses the Fort de Brégançon, a state residence used as a holiday retreat by the President of the Republic. You visit the old village on foot, before going down to the coast and its beaches, or setting off hiking in the neighbouring Maures.
