Le Castellet
Le Castellet is a perched village of the Var, overlooking the Bandol vineyard and the coastal plain, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Its medieval centre, surrounded by ramparts, is a set of narrow lanes, stone houses, small squares and a fourteenth-century castle above the old village, where craft workshops and shops occupy the ground floors.
From the terrace, the view extends over vines, pines and the Mediterranean. Nearby is also the Paul Ricard circuit, famous for its motor races. The visit is on foot in an hour or two, and can be combined with tasting Bandol wines, the Sanary coast and the Cassis calanques.
