Fondation Vincent Van Gogh en Arles
The Vincent van Gogh Foundation Arles is an art venue set in a mansion in the historic centre of Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône), the town where the painter stayed in 1888–1889 and produced a large number of works. Its purpose is to pay tribute to Van Gogh by making him dialogue with modern and contemporary art.
Its temporary exhibitions, renewed several times a year, associate works by Van Gogh, lent by major museums, with those of today's artists who respond to his legacy. The recent programme includes "To Vincent: A Winter's Tale", built around his correspondence (from November 2025 to April 2026), then "Suspects: Van Gogh, Tricksters & Co". An exhibition devoted to artists' imaginary museums, inspired by Van Gogh's collection of prints and images, is announced from 22 November 2026 to 4 April 2027.
The foundation also organises lectures, screenings of artists' films and takes part in the European Heritage Days. It is aimed at painting lovers, those curious about contemporary art and those who want to follow in Van Gogh's footsteps in Arles.
