Flavigny-sur-Ozerain
The silhouette of this perched village is punctuated by the imposing volumes of its religious buildings. After the Benedictines, who founded Saint-Pierre abbey in the eighth century, now the production site of aniseed sweets, the Ursulines then the Dominicans settled in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Dedicated to Saint Genest, the parish church, built in the Middle Ages, houses steles decorated with misericords. Flavigny is also a town of craftsmen and merchants whose past prosperity is attested by many houses: Maison Duret, Maison au Donataire (tourist office) or Maison Lacordaire. Of its medieval fortifications, Flavigny has kept the Val and Bourg gates; to the east, the Poterne gives access to the old wall-walk from which the view extends over the green hills of the Auxois.
