Château de Villerouge-Termenès
About fifty kilometres south-east of Carcassonne, Villerouge-Termenès is the Mediterranean gateway to the Hautes Corbières. Located in the heart of the village, the great mass of the castle commands respect. The first historical data concerning it go back to the early twelfth century. At that time and until the French Revolution, the powerful archbishops of Narbonne were lords of the castle and village. However, the château de Villerouge-Termenès was occupied and coveted several times. The castle was listed as a historic monument in 1976.
