Château de Trécesson
The château de Trécesson, at Campénéac, in the Morbihan, is one of the most impressive castles in Brittany. It has kept its medieval look, and its imposing walls of reddish-purple schist, built in the late fourteenth century, are reflected in the waters of the pond that surrounds it.
An important gatehouse, flanked by corbelled turrets, commands the entrance. It is private property, listed as a historic monument since 1922, with a classification extended in 2014 to its surroundings. It is near the Paimpont-Brocéliande forest and on the edge of the Coëtquidan camp. In the surroundings, you can discover places linked to the Merlin legend, such as Merlin's tomb and the Fountain of Youth.
