Château de Pontivy
It was raised in the fifteenth century by Jean II de Rohan. The façade has kept two large machicolated towers, capped with pepper-pot roofs, of the four that made up the enclosure. The 20-metre-high walls are bordered by moats never filled with water. The lord's lodging, remodelled in the eighteenth century, is adorned with stepped pediments and a fine double-flight staircase. You visit the guardroom, the first-floor rooms giving onto the magnificent wall-walk, the ducal room with its beautiful ceiling and the chapel. Note particularly the armorial fireplaces of the west tower. A restoration campaign is under way.
