Château de Montferrand
Standing on a jagged ridge of the Pic Saint-Loup, in the Hérault, isolated amid the garrigue, the ruins of the Château de Montferrand bear the marks of a long past.
The castle has stood since the 12th century on the site of a former Roman post. To the north, a vertical cliff some twenty metres high provides a natural defence. The site, which overlooks the countryside around Montpellier, is reached on foot by the paths of the Pic Saint-Loup.
