Château de l'Engarran

Hérault, Occitanie

The Château de l'Engarran is at Lavérune, on the edge of Montpellier, in the Hérault. It belongs to the family of Montpellier 'folies', the pleasure houses built around the city in the 18th century, and is protected as such. It was built on the walls of an old farm.

The estate has been devoted to vines since it was created, as the many statues in the park decorated with bunches of grapes show. The château is presented as an allegory of woman and love. Today the estate produces red, white and rosé wines sold at the cellar and can be hired for events. Its website has a visits section, without details of current arrangements.
