Château de Drée

Saône-et-Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The château de Drée, at Curbigny, in Saône-et-Loire, on the borders of the Brionnais and the Beaujolais, is a classical building remarkable for its proportions and symmetry. Outbuildings, gardens and château line up in a fine perspective.

The work, begun in the seventeenth century at the request of Charles de Blanchefort de Créquy, was completed in the eighteenth century and decorated by the La Drée family, who gave it their name on becoming its owners.

The guided visit presents interiors decorated in eighteenth-century fashion. The formal gardens, labelled "Jardin remarquable", and the outbuildings can be explored freely. Depending on the season, the château also offers evening or unusual visits, with access to the attics.
