Château du Banchet
The Château du Banchet, or Château de la Magdeleine, is a former fortified castle, partly rebuilt in the 15th century and restored in the 19th, the centre of the lordship of Le Banchet. It stands in the commune of Châteauneuf, in the Saône-et-Loire. The château, the façades and roofs of the outbuildings, the Neo-Gothic gateway on the church side and the greenhouse are protected.
The remains of the old castle, destroyed in 1445, survive in the park as a motte and the ruins of a curtain wall. The present château was built by Girard de la Madeleine and restored in 1896 by the architect Rotival. It consists of a main building with a return wing and corner towers.
