Château d'Entrechaux

Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The ruins of the château d'Entrechaux overlook the village of the same name, in the Vaucluse, about seven kilometres south-east of Vaison-la-Romaine. Perched on a rocky peak at about 280 metres' altitude, the old castle is visible from afar and watches over the surrounding valleys; tradition dates it to the tenth–eleventh centuries.

The village was under papal authority, like the Comtat Venaissin, from 1274 to 1791.

Hiking paths start from the village and lead to the ruins: the site is mostly appreciated for its panorama, with a view of Mont Ventoux. Access conditions to the ruins themselves are not specified by the sources consulted; it is better to check with the town hall or the tourist office.
