Centre de création contemporaine Olivier Debré

Indre-et-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire

The Olivier Debré Contemporary Creation Centre (CCCOD) is an art centre in Tours, Jardin François Ier. Created in 1984, it is one of the very first contemporary art centres in France and took the name of the painter Olivier Debré in 2015. It moved in 2017 into a 4,500 m² building designed by the Portuguese architects Aires Mateus, chosen after an international competition.

The centre fulfils two missions: supporting contemporary creation and making Olivier Debré's work known. It is neither a museum nor a foundation, but the first art centre to manage an artist's collection, Debré's. An 11-metre-high nave hosts monumental works, and large bay windows keep a constant link with the city.

The programme includes about seven exhibitions a year, which set Debré's work against that of international artists and young creators, in painting, photography and video. The centre is also a place of research and encounter.
