Cascades d'Aïtone
The Aïtone waterfalls are about four kilometres after Evisa, along the D84 road climbing to the Col de Vergio. The little Aïtone torrent jumps from rock to rock here and forms pools of clear water carved into granite, at the edge of the Aïtone forest.
This forest covers about 4,000 hectares and shelters thousands of Corsican pines, some of them over 50 metres tall. The site is easy to reach: you can park along the road and walk a few minutes, or follow a longer marked path. The upper part is set up as a picnic area, and some fifty steps lead down to the different pools. In the shade of pines and chestnut trees, you can swim there in summer.
