Cascade de la Fraiche
The Fraîche waterfall is at Pralognan-la-Vanoise, in Savoie, at about 1,420 metres' altitude, in the Vanoise national park. It reaches about eighty metres in height in total, according to the current listing.
It is reached on foot from the village, via the Les Bieux district, then a forest path of about twenty minutes from the foot of the cliff. A walking loop, accessible in the fine season, lets you enjoy the site. The tourist office advises going rather in late morning, as the place is shaded.
A via ferrata, grade D+, runs along the waterfall. About two hundred metres long for eighty metres of climb, it crosses the fall on a suspended walkway. It is reserved for experienced practitioners or people accompanied by a high-mountain guide.
