Cascade de Couz ou de Saint-Cassin
The Couz waterfall, also called the Saint-Cassin waterfall, is at the hamlet of Couz in the commune of Saint-Cassin, in Savoie, at the foot of the Chartreuse massif. It falls in a single jet from a rock more than 50 metres high, directly at the edge of the D1006 road linking Chambéry to Les Échelles, which makes it visible without an approach walk. The site has been classified by an order of 23 September 1955, which protects a strip 40 metres wide on either side of the watercourse. Engravers and draughtsmen have depicted it since the nineteenth century. The very nearby railway, however, somewhat harms the site's charm.
