Cascade de Confolens
The Confolens waterfall is above the village of Le Périer, in the Valbonnais, in Isère, at the entrance to the Écrins National Park. Located at about 1,133 metres' altitude, it gushes from a rocky gully and plunges about 75 metres, according to sources, towards other torrents. Le Périer is on departmental road 526, between Entraigues and the Col d'Ornon.
The site is reached from the village by a small, narrow, tarmac forest road, passable with a pushchair. The route is about 2.3 kilometres with 250 metres of climbing, from 900 to 1,150 metres' altitude. The climb takes about an hour and the descent three quarters of an hour. A viewing platform is set up facing the fall, from where you can see and hear the waterfall. The route is judged suitable for children from 4 years old, with a few picnic areas along the way.
Alternative forest paths exist for more experienced walkers, one of which, narrow and on the mountainside, is more demanding.
