Cascade de la Fauge

Isère, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Fauge waterfall is near Villard-de-Lans, in the Vercors massif, in the Isère. It is discovered at the bottom of a wooded valley, at the end of an easy walk that suits families well.

The route follows forest paths from the Cochettes or Glovettes area, passes the Pont de l'Amour, a few hundred metres from the village centre, then goes up the watercourse to the fall, about twenty-five minutes' walk further. A small pottery, open in summer, is nearby.

The waterfall's flow can be low in summer, while in winter it can freeze, the walk then being done on foot or on snowshoes depending on snow cover. The final descent is sometimes steep and slippery.
