Bonneval-sur-Arc

Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Bonneval-sur-Arc is a village in Savoie, at the head of the Maurienne valley, in the Vanoise national park, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. At 1,835 metres' altitude in one of the most beautiful glacial ensembles of the French Alps, it is the highest commune in Maurienne.

The stone and lauze houses, separated by narrow lanes, surround the cheese dairy and the Grande Maison. The sixteenth-century church, with its Savoyard bell tower, holds a collection of seventeenth-century statues. Around, you discover Stations of the Cross, oratories and chapels. The village is also a starting point for hikes towards the Col de l'Iseran and the glaciers.
